Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital is Now Permanently Closed
After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to permanently close Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital as of March 31, 2023. Our hospital has been temporarily closed for several months as the building requires major renovation. These circumstances have resulted in limited facilities, making it challenging for us to maintain our high standards of service and clinical care that we’ve provided since the 1950s.
We understand this news may come as a disappointment to many of you who have entrusted us with the care of your beloved pets over the years. The Gilabbey Team has valued the opportunity to care for your animals and build relationships with so many wonderful clients throughout our decades of service.

Accessing Your Pet’s Records
All pet records at Gilabbey are stored in a secure database and can only be released within GDPR guidelines. To access your pet’s medical history:
- Register with your new veterinary practice first
- Call our hospital on 021 496 2799 to request secure transfer of your pet’s records
- Provide authorization for the transfer (records will not be transferred automatically)
From March 31, 2023, your calls will be forwarded to our Careline dedicated team who will assist with your requests and ensure proper handling of your pet’s confidential information.
Ordering Repeat Medications and Food – Important Deadline
To ensure we can fulfill all final orders before closure, please note these critical dates:
- Last order date: Thursday, March 23, 2023
- Final collection deadline: Friday, March 31, 2023
This timeframe allows us to process orders and ensure you can collect medications and food before our permanent closure. We recommend planning accordingly to avoid any interruption in your pet’s medication or dietary regimen.
